Zia Back, pressure on Younus to hold elections in ‘fastest possible’ time

Dhaka: A demonstration of collective support in political tensions and Dhaka, BNP chairperson and sick former PM Khayida Zia returned from London on Tuesday after four months of treatment, his return was seen as a possible turn in opposition’s push for elections and returned to democratic rule.Zia, radical PM Sheikh Hasina, and her Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) staunch rivals are urging the interim government to hold elections in December this year. The BNP is currently a major political party, and as Zia’s return, BNP continued the pressure on the interim government to hold elections in “fastest possible” time.The government and its chief advisor Muhammad Yunus, however, first want to pursue their reform agenda, while the recently swim -led National Citizen Party (NCP) is trying to organize the nationwide network. Members of the NCP recently stated that the election under the current “Pro-BNP” bureaucracy is unlikely to be fair and they want the reforms launched by the Yumns government to be done first. A senior BNP politician said, “We believe that Zia’s presence will make it easier to restore democracy.”
