Akhilendra Mishra credited Apoorva Lakhia for the success of ‘Lagaan’: ‘He put 10,000 people on his toes’

Speaking on Friday Talkies YouTube channel, Mishra did not return her praise for the assistant director, whose strict discipline and Hollywood-style systems left a permanent impression. He credited Apoorva Lakhia for the success of the film’s six -month program. Even though Ashutosh Gowariker’s script made the film strong, it was Apoorva, which had remarkable control on the set.

Mishra said, “He was incredible. The man placed 10,000 people on his toes. I saw it myself. I could not be said enough about him. I was very impressed with him, I asked him about his background, and he told me that he assisted in Hollywood,” Mishra said.
Mishra highlighted strict discipline on the set under the management of Lakhia, given that senior actors such as Kulbhashan Kharbandh also had to follow accurate instructions. The movement was tightly controlled, arranged for every step with transport – all part of an impressive organized system.
