‘We are close to NYC’s first South Asian Mayor’: Zoharan Mamdani used Indian card to please voters, promises for rent and free buses
One of the candidates for the Mayor of New York City, Zoharan Mamdani has used the Indian card to draw voters’ attention. An Indian-Ugandan-American, Mamdani has released a video in which he is speaking in Hindi and promising to give relief, free buses and cheap grocery items. In a post NX, he shared the video with the caption, “billionaires already have everything. Now, your time has come.”In the video, Mammadani used some references to some Bollywood film. It seems that he is trying to attract Indian descendants or Indian origin in his video, in his video the son of Indian-American film director Meera Nair said, “Brothers and sisters, there are only 20 days left in the election, and there is an option between me and Andrew Cumo. If you are turning into a bus, then all of these Andrew Kuomo Building, Property, Bank Balance, A Haveli, A Car- What do you have? Who is Zoharan Mamdani?
New York is a member of the state assembly, Mamdani, an Indian-Ugandan-American, who became an American citizen after 2016-during the first term of Donald Trump. Mamdani’s father Mahmood Mamdani is an India-born Uganda Academic and his mother Meera Nair is an Indian-American filmmaker.In 2019, Mammadani launched a campaign for Berney Sanders for 2020 and said he was excited, as 2020 would be his first presidential post as he was not an American citizen in 2016. “I could not vote for @berniesanders in 2016 because I was not a citizen yet, but I could not wait for my first president’s vote. Mamdani wrote in his 2019 post which became a flashpoint.
