Washington Beautiful Special Interview: ‘Goti (Gautam Gambhir) brother has helped me understand my ability’. Cricket news

Washington Sundar has played just one game for Gujarat Titans this season and has immediate effect with BAT (PTI)

New Delhi:Washington Sundar’s ability to bat anywhere and bowl at different stages of the game makes him a valuable property for any captain. The 25-year-old, a left-handed batsman and off-spinner, is a kind of player who can have an impact with both bat and ball; Which can originally swim in batting order.
Their spin can be used in different stages of the innings, as he has shown in his brief career, even working with a new ball in the powerplay overs. But despite being an all-format cricketer, the 25-year-old has been hungry at the international level and in the Indian Premier League (IPL) continuously since the game.
In a free-shallow chat with Timesofindia.com, the all-rounder shared his views on the Impact Player Rule, how he maintains his routine and rhythm despite limited opportunities, and the importance of support from coach Gautam Gambhir.
Part:
Is there any rule that you want to get rid of in IPL? I can give you a hint: it starts with one I …
You really have to ask the audience because I am part of the team. I do not think I have any control over changing any rule, nor will I consider doing anything like this. Therefore, the audience will give you better answers and certainly much more entertainment.
You usually do not get much game time, whether it is with the Indian team or in the IPL. How difficult is it to maintain that rhythm?
This is not very difficult, honestly, because we practice every day. We do what we want and work on various aspects of the game. Therefore, finding the rhythm and staying on top of the game is under my control. If I give 100 percent in every session, I will get the best rhythm and the best trust system. All this is about the purpose that I bring in each practice session.

Do you think the impact player rule for IPL is important?

Team India coach Gautam Gambhir has given a lot of support to you. How important is this for a player?
It honestly makes a big difference. Goti Bhai has helped me understand my ability and how to complete your game in different situations. This has been a large -scale learning experience. This definitely creates a big difference to understand yourself and your own skill set. In this way, your graph is simply going up, and you are getting more approach about yourself from the people around you. I have learned a lot about myself in the last few months.
Similarly, in GT, you are working with Ashish Nehra.
I have known him for a lot of years. We also worked together in RCB. So, I knew what he expected from and GT culture. He considers a lot in adopting situations and reading the situation as soon as possible. We are actually good as a team this season. He believes in doing enough work in preparation. I think you have really worked for all, whether you are young or senior players.
Overall, GT is a new setup for you, a new franchise. How is the experience so far?
I spoke to my friends (Sai Reformson and Sai Kishore) before joining GT. Honestly, we have to practice a lot. We put a lot of quantity in terms of improving every skill set. If you have a specific purpose and are working on improving any aspect of the game, it is bound to happen, and you are bound to find your best rhythm and the magic you are looking for.
Are you working on adding a new element to your bowling? Any mystery (carrom) ball?
It is certainly exciting and fun to try new delivery, especially those you can change your natural technique too much. I have been doing this in the last one and a half years. At the end of the day, bowling is something you need to enjoy regardless of the format. The more you enjoy and the more work you put, the better you will see more magic on the field.
IPL matches are being played on pitches, in which batsmen have been favored. How difficult is this for a traditional off-spinner like you?
Even for fast bowlers, there are many times when there is not much help. In addition to the first two overs, there is not much for fast bowlers. This is about how they are suited to the situations and get the best by themselves in challenging circumstances that will make them stand out. All this is about how you work and think about your game.
Your bridge shots and no-look shots look so comfortable and you play them without losing your shape. Has it always been natural?
I started facing medium pacers and fast bowlers in my career long ago. This definitely helped. I remember going to the MRF Pace Foundation and batting against the fast bowlers from the age of 13. Over the years, I have understood how to face speed and which shots I can be good and especially improve against bowlers. It is also about understanding my game, and those shots come very naturally for me. In addition, I prepare and improve those shots daily.
You started your career as a top-order batsman. What is your favorite batting position?
It is definitely fun to bat at the top as you get more balls and more opportunities to score big runs. But this is also exciting when the team needs to perform your best and win the game. It is trying to win the game for the team, it doesn’t matter. But at the same time, it is very fun to bat on the top and facial swing, speed and quality spin. Trying to maximize your abilities in those situations definitely makes me happy.
