Dhaka, Islamabad to hold 1 foreign office talks in 15 years

Dhaka: In the indication of the intention of the government to “engage deeply” with Islamabad, Bangladesh And Pakistan Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) – is ready to be held in Foreign Secretary – Level Dialogue – Dhaka Thursday. It marks the first such bilateral meeting between the two countries since 2010, which outlines a possible melting in long -term diplomatic ties.
Officials said Bangladesh Foreign Secretary MD Jashim Udin and his Pakistani counterpart Amna Baloch, to be held at the state guest house in Folk, would lead the delegation concerned at FOC to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations. Arrived at Dhaka on Wednesday to participate in Baloch talks.
Both sides are expected to discuss a wide range of bilateral issues, including unresolved historical cases. A Bangladeshi Foreign Ministry official said, “Both sides are expected to discuss bilateral issues without any certain agenda.”
Relations remained tense during the 15 -year tenure of the Sheikh Hasina government due to issues such as testing of war crimes in Bangladesh, however, things have changed a lot since the formation of the Interim government in August 2024. Pakistan Deputy PM and Foreign Minister, Ekshk Dar, have also been scheduled to pay a visit after this month.
