He successfully contested the Haryana Assembly elections from burning in Jind district last year on a Congress ticket last year.

Saini admitted that Phogat was disqualified from the Paris Olympics due to a procedural decision and was called “Gaurav of Haryana”.
He assured that he would not let his honor be reduced.
