Donald Trump: ‘Xi is a smart man’: Donald Trump praised the Chinese President, predicts ‘very good deal’ with China despite tariff standoff

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday voiced optimism that a deal with China was still within reach, even the tension between the two superpowers increased by 125%after his decision to increase the tariff on Chinese goods.
But talk to reporters white HouseTrump praised Chinese President Xi Jinping and left the door open for direct talks.
“Xi is a smart boy and we will make a great deal,” Trump said, the Chinese leader “one of the world’s clever people” and “a man who really knows what to do, he loves his country”.
Trump told reporters that he would consider talking with Xi, although he admitted that Chinese were not currently taking advantage of America. He said, “I think investing in the United States will be the biggest investment. We will get a phone call at some point, and then it is closed for the race”, he said.
Despite the inclusive accents of Thetrump, the US-China trade war reached a boiling point earlier this week, when Trump increased the tariff by 125%on all Chinese imports, stating what he said to “lack of honor” for global trade norms.
Beijing first replied to 84%of the tariff on American goods, describing analysts as a dangerous tight-for-tat escalation.
While Trump on Wednesday insisted that “I don’t think I would have to do it” when asked about the tariff growth, the White House clarified that the pressure campaign on China was over.
Treasury Secretary Scott Besant According to a report by news agency AP, China “showed itself as bad actors” and this strategy is working to bring Beijing on the table.
China, however, there is no crowd. People’s Daily, the ruling party’s leading paper, dismissed the American strategy as a “tariff bullying” and postponed the country’s “strong flexibility”, given that it had accumulated “rich conflict experience” from an eight -year trade tension with Washington. Nevertheless, it insisted that Beijing had not closed the door for dialogue.
Meanwhile, Trump is bent over personal diplomacy. During his remarks at the Oval Office, he briefly published business to avoid American military strength before returning to prickly XI. “We have weapons that no one knows,” he said, “but we are going to make a deal. It is going to be appropriate for everyone”.
Nevertheless, Trump hit a tone with a confident. “This is a conversation,” he told reporters. “You have flexibility”, he said.
