Trump Order denies treatment to US Army giants; Political loyalty and marital status new criteria; Doctors allowed patients to reject

The new rules in the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospitals now allow doctors and healthcare staff to deny treatment to veterans who are democrats or unmarried. The changes were quietly introduced after an executive order signed by US President Donald Trump in January, and they have already become effective in some features.Earlier, VA employees were clearly banned from discriminating on political affiliation, matrimonial status or membership of the union. That language has now been removed from the department’s bylaws.VA says “All the characters will always be welcomed” and they still deserve treatment. However, under the new rules, individual employee members can now deny the treatment of patients based on individual symptoms that are not particularly protected under federal law.The new rules accessed by The Guardian applies not only to doctors, but also to psychologists, dentists and many other health roles. They also allow to recruit discrimination against medical staff based on similar individual factors. The executive order was mainly aimed at removing federal security for transgender individuals. It also banned the use of words such as “transgender” into VA clinics and cut gender-suit care. These changes are part of a comprehensive policy change under Trump Administration.VA health researchers are now facing strict controls, including the need to obtain political approval before publication in scientific magazines.Veteran advocacy groups have warned that the new rule can affect rural veterans and people left with military sexual trauma the most. According to a naval legend Tia Christopher, some patients may be forced to travel more than 100 miles to prepare a doctor for their treatment. Experts are also worried about lack of consultation, as VA doctors were not involved in changes. VA has not denied this. Medical organizations including the American Medical Association are also pushing back. In a meeting this week, the AMA passed a resolution that included the autonomy of doctors from hospitals to preserve and make them rules. The department of veteran cases runs the largest integrated hospital system in the United States with over 170 hospitals and 1,000 clinics. It employs about 26,000 doctors and provides care to about 9 million patients each year.
