Trump Administration Health Financing Cut: 23 states sued Trump administration in health funding of $ 11 billion

A coalition by the Attorney General of 23 states has sued the Trump administration on its decision to cancel $ 11 billion in federal health funding, arguing that the step is illegal and threatens public health across the country.
The lawsuit has been filed in a federal court in Road Island.
According to news agency AP, the move aims to prevent the administration from pulling back funds which were originally allocated during the Covid-19 epidemic for the treatment of testing, vaccination, mental health services and addiction.
The states involved in the trial include New York, California, Colorado, Minnesota, Northern Carolina, Visconsin, Kentaki and Pennsylvania as well as Columbia districts.
New York Attorney General Latitia James said in a statement on Tuesday, “Slashing this funding will now reverse our progress on the opioid crisis, throw our mental health systems into chaos, and the hospitals struggling to care for patients will be released.”
According to the Reuters of the news agency, the US Health and Human Services Department (HHS) defended the cuts, stating that “Covid-19 epidemic is over” and the taxpayer dollar should no longer spend on the agency described as “non-existent epidemic”.
Funds under consideration were being used by the states not only for epidemic related efforts but also other infectious diseases such as measles and bird flu, as well as mental health services and addiction treatment programs.
Local and State health department Warned that a sudden return of funds would cause mass loss, some infectious disease teams expected to lose up to 90% of their employees.
