The work produced under NREGS in ’24 -25 less than the number ’23 -24 number. Bharat News

New Delhi: The work produced under the flagship job scheme MGNREGA in the last financial year was less than 2023-24, but is still above pre-political level which is seen as a reference point for general demand for crisis labor.
In 2024–25, the job plan was recorded for the work of more than 288 crore work, and on March 31, the data will be revised upwards with the update by the end of April. Nevertheless, it will be much below 312 crore individuals generated in 2023-24.
However, in the last two years, the work under the job scheme is far above the 265 crore persons generated in 2019-20 a year before the Kovid epidemic.
In 2020–21, a stop for economic activities in view of the epidemic and a nationwide lockdown sent the rural population to MGNREGS work sites in the crowd, and the demand for work went through the roof. The work generated that year recorded the all -time high of about 389 crore persons. The return of migrant workers was another reason for high work demand under the plan in their home states.
While the demand for work under the job scheme has been reduced since then it is still to reach the normal level before the epidemic burst. High work demand has been widely seen as a signal Rural crisisAs traditional employment centers took time to return to their full capacity.
The decline in work generated in 2024–25 can be seen as more reforms in the rural crisis as compared to 2023-24, as the government has repeatedly claimed in recent months.
But experts working on this scheme argue that the sad budget has played a role in controlling the demand for work. The Ministry of Rural Development has kept the budget for MGNREGS for about 86,000-89,000 crores in the last two years. Although the scheme is demand-operated and the government is obliged to provide funds to meet the expenses incurred on the initial budgetary allocation, it is argued that the initial announcement in the state government and district officials is taking a Q in the low budget and dismisses the demand through delay-one reason is the reason why non-government experts “high-government experts” high-allocation in waiting for revived “.
In 2025-26, the allocation of Rs 86,000 will be very low as the ministry has a loss of Rs 2024-25 to about Rs 29,000 crore, which may be a small part of the states.
