A indigenously developed state -of -the -art statistical model is used for purpose with ± 4 days model error.Previous data suggests that the operational forecasts of the IMD of the start of the monsoon on Kerala during the last 20 years (2005–2024) proved to be correct when the actual start (5 June) crossed the forecast date (30 May) to the +/- 4-day model error range.The MET department uses an indigenously developed state -of -the -art statistical model with a model error of ± 4 days to make forecast.Models include the minimum temperature on northwest India in the six predictions used by it; Pre-monsoon rain peaks on the South Peninsula; Sea pressure on the sub-triangle NW Pacific Ocean; Outgoing long wave radiation (OLR) on the South China Sea; Lower troposphere zonal winds above the Northeast Indian Ocean; And the upper troposphere zonal air in the Indonesia region.Last month, IMD predicted the ‘normal’ monsoon rains above the general ‘monsoon rains in the country as this year during the upcoming rainy season (June-September).
