Cairo: The clashes amidst heavy armed militia shook the capital of Libya, after the killing of a powerful chieftains, with gunfire and blasts across the city, officials said.At least six people were killed, he said. Officials said heavy weapons, including heavy weapons, took place in the early hours of Tuesday evening and focused in Abu Salim in Tripoli’s southern neighborhood. A senior government and health official said that the fight was on Monday by the murder of Stabilization Support Authority, SSA Commander Abdel-Ghani al-Kakli, a senior government and health officer. SSA is a umbrella group of militia which became one of the most powerful groups in Western Libya, with a history of violations of atrocities and rights during the country’s long -running conflict. Al-Kakli, known as “Geniva”, has been accused of violating Amnesty International of War Crime and other serious rights in the last decade. Al-Kakli was killed in a facility run by a 444 brigade, commanded by a militia Mahmood Hamza, which was said by another chieftain of Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dabibah, an official said. Hamza’s militia and his colleagues then attacked the SSA offices in the capital, seized their assets and detained dozens of SSA fighters, officials said, who spoke on the condition of anonymity for their safety. Ambulances and emergency services of the Ministry of Health said in a statement that at least six people were killed in the area around SSA Garh, Abu Salim. It said that it helped many families get caught in clashes. Residents reported heavy clashes and explosions in many areas in the capital, with dozens of vehicles carrying fighters associated with separate militia on the roads. “It was a bad dream,” Ahmed Ammer said, who lives in the center of the city, saying that the clashes were reminiscent of the civil war that surrounded the North African country after the 2011 uproar and the killing of ruler Mammer Gaddafi for a long time. He said that the clash declined in the early morning on Tuesday morning, but the situation was tense with several fighters on the roads. According to the Tripoli-based ministry, classes in the capital schools were suspended on Tuesday. Tripoli University also said that it suspended the study, examination and administrative work till the next notice. The Dbeibah government on Tuesday posted on its social media platform that its forces conducted a military operation in Abu Salim and took full control of the area. It did not give further details. In a statement, the United Nations Mission in Libya expressed an alarm about “rapid fight with heavy -populated civilian areas” and warned that “attacks on civilians and civil goods could be funds for war crimes”. The conflict was largely the latest match of violence in the lawless Mediterranean country, which has been submerged in anarchy and partition since 2011. Amidst anarchy, militia developed in wealth and power, especially in Tripoli and the western part of the country. Libya is divided for years between rival administration in East and West, supported by each armed groups and foreign governments. Currently, it is ruled by the administration of Dbeibah’s government in Tripoli and earlier by the administration of Prime Minister Osma Hammad.
