Jerusalem: Israel’s army stated that it stopped a missile launched from Yemen on Friday, in which AFP journalists reported the blasts recited in the Jerusalem area.There was no immediate claim of responsibility for missile fire, which follows the attacks of Iran -backed Huthi rebels in Yemen, including Sunday strike at Israel’s main airport.The Israeli army said in a statement that “a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted” after the sound of air raids in many areas.Yemen’s Huhis, who say that they work in solidarity with Palestinians, have repeatedly attacked Israel and shipping in the Red Sea shortly after the onset of the October 2023 war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.On Sunday, the Iran -backed group hit the area of the Ben Gurian Airport in Israel, injuring a hole near its main terminal building and many people, in the rare missile fire that had entered Israel’s air defense. Israel on Tuesday retaliated against Huthi and three nearby power stations by attacking the airport at Yemen’s rebel-controlled capital Sanaa.Israel’s attacks, which disabled the airport, followed an American bombing campaign in response to Huthi’s threats to renew the attacks on shipping in the region.But the United States and Huthi later reached a ceasefire agreement on Tuesday, the mediator Oman announced the deal to ensure “freedom of navigation” in the Red Sea.Huhis, who controlled the huge swaths of the region in Yemen, vowed to target Israel and Israeli ships on the major waterways, saying that the deal with Washington did not include Israel.
