No fruits, vegetables, milk or meat are released in Gaza markets because WFP comes out of food stock

World Food Program During Israeli’s blockade of nearly eight weeks, the stores of their food in the Gaza Strip have been eliminated, eliminating an important source of livelihood for hundreds of Palestinians. The WFP announced that it has distributed its last shares into the charity kitchen supported in Gaza, which is expected to reduce their supply within days.
According to the United Nations, about 80% of the population of more than 2 million Gaza depends primarily on the charity kitchen for livelihood, as other sources have stopped operations under Israel’s blockade. WFP spokesman Abeer Etfa informed the Associated Press that they are supporting 47 kitchens, which provide 644,000 hot food daily.
The operational status of the remaining kitchen in Gaza is not clear after the closure of WFP-supported facilities. However, Etefa indicated that the WFP-supported kitchen forms primary food distribution centers in Gaza.
Israel on March 2 stopped the entry of food, fuel, medicine and other supply to Gaza, which resumed fortnight and land operations in the fortnight, later interrupted a two -month ceasefire with Hamas.
Israel maintains these measures that aim to secure the release of the remaining hostages. Rights groups have labeled the blockade a ‘starvation strategy’ and a possible war crime.
With a breakdown of supply chains, many foods have disappeared from the markets, including meat, eggs, fruits, dairy products, and vegetables. Price inflation has made the remaining items ineffective for many residents, forcing families to rely primarily on canned goods.
The rate of malnutrition has increased significantly. The UN reported 3,700 children suffering from acute malnutrition in March, which represents an increase of 80% from February. Assistance organizations can only provide nutritional supplements to about 22,000 children in March, marking a 70% decrease from February.
Most of the bakers have stopped operations, and WFP has stopped basic food distribution due to low supply. Charity kitchen now serves basic pasta or rice food mainly due to lack of component.
The World Central Kitchen, a major American charity operated independently of the WFP, stated on Thursday that their kitchen lacks protein, resulting in vegetable-based stuages using canned materials. They use wooden palettes for fuel and operate the only functioning bakery of Gaza, producing 87,000 beaten rotis daily.
WFP indicates readiness to transport 116,000 tonnes in Gaza, enough to maintain 1 million people for four months, access to the extent of Israel.
Israel’s aerial and grassroots operations have caused massive damage to Gaza in a campaign to eliminate Hamas after an attack on Southern Israel on 7 October 2023. While the October 7 terrorist attack resulted in about 1,200 deadly on behalf of Israel, Gaza’s Health Ministry reported 51,000 Palestinian deaths, mainly women and children.
Hamas abducted 251 during the attack in 2023. After the ceasefire-free release, 59 hostages were taken captive.
