The Center defends the cancellation of security approval to the Turkish firm Celebi in the High Court on national security basis

The government opposed the petitions filed by the Turkish firm Celebi Airport Services India Private Limited and another unit in the Delhi High Court on Monday, challenged the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS )’s decision to withdraw its security approval. During the hearing before Justice Sachin Dutta, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta represented the Center and claimed that the decision was taken considering national security concerns based on specific intelligence inputs. The Aviation Security Regulator BCAS canceled the security permit soon after supporting Pakistan and criticized India’s anti-terrorism functions in the adjacent nation.Companies were responsible for ground handling operations and management of cargo terminal services. Mehta said, “I am saying that this is a national security issue and order (cancellation of clearance) is the same.”Representing companies, senior advocate Mukul Rohtgi said that the decision stems from “public perception”, which was not a valid justification. He said that the withdrawal was canceled without providing an opportunity for any clarification or representation.“It seems to me that the company’s share of Turkish citizens is due to public perception,” Rhatgi said.He said that the petitioners had been working for 17 years, giving employment to 14,000 people.Justice Dutta questioned the court’s authority to review such decisions and whether pre -notification was required under these circumstances. The next hearing is scheduled for 21 May.This comes when the government withdrew to the Security Authority for Celibi and its affiliated firms last week, citing national security interests. The decision affects the ground handling services of Celibi, which are security-sensitive operations, at nine major Indian airports: Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Goa, Cochin and Kannur.Ground handling operations on these sites are managed by Celi Airport Services India Private Limited (Casipl) and two other affiliated companies.“The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has canceled the security approval of the Celebi on the grounds related to national security. There is nothing above the safety of our nation and our fellow citizens. National interest and public safety are paramount and non-circumcision,” Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said. The immediate implementation of this directive was explained as a sign of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, which will face the nation -seen nation as the economic results. The post-Pakistan situation allegedly used Turkish-made drones during Operation Sindoor to attack Indian urban centers, causing diplomatic tension.Read more: High Court cited the reason for cancellation of security approval for the ‘unclear’ of the Celi Aviation Center in Türkiye
