‘Rethinking Yatra’: The US amended the advisor for Bangladesh, which cited civil disturbance, crime and terrorism

The United States State Department has re -released its travel advisor to Bangladesh, urging American citizens to reconsider the journey citing the concerns of civil disturbance, crime and terrorism.
Update Advisor, 18 April (US Time) released, retains the designation ‘Level 3: Renser Travel’ for most parts of the country. Meanwhile, Chittagong Hill Tracts – including Khagrachi, Rangmati and Bandarban districts – remain under ‘Level 4: Do Not Travel’ warning. Citing the advisor, there continued the risk of communal violence, terrorism, kidnapping and political unrest in the region.
While the frequency of large -scale clashes has declined, demonstrations and protests continue in Bangladesh. The Foreign Department warned that peaceful incidents may also move rapidly in violence and advised passengers to avoid all political programs and large public functions.
Travel ban for American government personnel
According to the advisor, American government employees in Bangladesh are subject to significant travel sanctions. Within Dhaka, their movements are largely limited to diplomatic enclaves until a specific authority is provided. Traveling outside the capital will require a prior approval, with the exception to the travels of COX Bazaar and Silhet, which are considered relatively safe. The US embassy also stated that its ability to assist American citizens in emergency – especially outside the Dhaka – is interrupted by the boundaries of the infrastructure and the availability of local emergency services.

Precautionary measures for American passengers
The State Department urged American citizens who still choose to travel to Bangladesh to take many important precautions. Passengers are advised to enroll at the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (Step) to get timely alert and to ensure that the US embassy can detect them in an emergency.
In the event of a robbery or theft attempt, passengers should not oppose, giving priority above all, the US government said. Given the boundaries in local healthcare infrastructure, Americans are also encouraged to purchase extensive travel insurance including coverage for medical withdrawal.
In addition, passengers have also been urged to fully review the current health guidelines released by the Disease Control and Prevention Center (CDC) before departure along with the latest American country security reports.
