‘Tariffs do not bring back manufacturing. They are just one tax on Americans’: China publicly targeted us amidst growth in trade war

As stress deepen American China Trade WarBeijing is transferring the strategy by directly addressing the American public, rather than completely confusing with the Trump administration. In its latest attempt, China has launched a social media campaign to counter the belief prevalent among many Americans that Tariff, imposed by President Donald Trump, has mainly hurt foreign economies.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning posted a video on X (East Twitter), which featured a person depicted as an American importer. The video targets American citizens, especially Trump supporters, with a warning that tariffs on Chinese imports eventually burden American consumers. Mao wrote in the caption, “Foreign countries pay tariffs? No – US business pays, then pass the cost to you. Tariffs do not bring back construction. They are just united on Americans,” Mao has written in the caption.
The message was renewed with fresh enmity in the ongoing trade dispute. On Wednesday, Trump announced a 145% increase in tariffs on Chinese goods, leading to an anti -retaliation from Beijing, which increased its tariff on US imports by 125% by Friday. Tight-for-tat measures have pushed bilateral trade-2024, after a possible breakdown of more than $ 650 billion-a possible breakdown, analysts warned.
While Trump insisted that payments are made by foreign exporters – the Air Force on one, telling reporters on one, “We can set the tariff, and they cannot choose to deal with us or they can choose to pay it” -Onomists and business experts say that not to importers, foreign suppliers, do not stop the cost. These costs are usually passed to consumers through high prices.
Nevertheless, Trump has left the door open for talks. The White House press secretary Karolin Lewit said on Friday, “The President made it clear: when the United States is punched, he will barely punch back,” the White House press secretary Karolin Levit said on Friday, even Trump may have suggested a deal.
Meanwhile, in a separate step, the Trump administration announced a discount for some electronics from punitive tariffs, providing relief for major technical companies such as Apple and Dale. The US Customs and Border Protection Agency issued a notice listing 20 product categories – including computers, semiconductors, memory chips and displays – which will be excluded from 5 April.
This exemption also applies to 10% of Trump’s “baseline” tariffs on imports from most countries, except China, effectively reduces costs on major technical components from Taiwan and India.
