‘People came out of buildings’: Witnesses described terror as a fresh earthquake.

Two residents of the Wundwin Township near the epicenter told the associated press by phone that Sunday earthquakes were strong enough to damage the roof by shaking buildings. “People came out of buildings,” said one. Another resident described cracked walls and minor debris inside the house.
However, in Naypyitaw, a resident told AP that he did not get shocks.
The three people spoke on the condition of anonymity, citing fear of annoying military officers, who have long controlled the information and banned public criticism – especially during the time of crisis.
According to the military government, Sunday’s trembling is one of the strongest afterchoxes after the 28 March disaster, killing at least 3,649 people and injured more than 5,000. The earthquake also flattened villages, severely damaged hospitals, and farming and transportation in many areas.
The United Nations warned last week that the devastation was increasing Myanmar’s current human crisis, which has deteriorated due to ongoing conflicts and displacement of more than 3 million people.
The country marked the onset of Thingian as an earthquake, the traditional New Year holiday of Myanmar. Recently the ceremony was canceled with respect for the victims.
While officials said that there was no immediate report of new casualties.
