Sunil Shetty remembers Divya Bharti’s last days on the Mohra set: ‘She was fearless, was full of life and mast’
Suniel Shetty, who got up for stardom with 1994 blockbuster PawnRecently, before her untimely demise, the film was opened about working with the late Divya Bharti. The action-thriller, which became a big hit, starred with Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon. However, many people do not know that Divya was originally cast as Raveena and shot some scenes before the tragedy.In an interview with radio intoxication, Sunil recalled shooting with Divya Bharti in the historic Belgaum Jail. He said, “That girl was absolutely fearless. She was full of life and fun,” he said, reflecting her vibrant personality. “Hum Rajiv Kos Sata Sakte Han, Shabir Kos Sata Saka, Hamari Yojana was the same. (Our plan was always about how to prank director Rajiv Rai and Shabbir Box).Sunil Divya was described as a “treatment to work” and recalled how she brought happiness and livelihood in the set. Unfortunately, Divya’s sudden demise, filming just one week, the team was shocked and destroyed. After his death, producer Ravena turns Tandon into the role that will become one of his most prestigious performances.
After the release of Mohra’s poster, Sunil called Anil Kapoor’s old Jib and Akshay Kumar as “50% Vale Heroes”. In the same interview, he said, “He was a star, so he could say. He meant that a hero should have been cast instead of two.”He admitted the comment, but said, “We had not yet become stars like him, but we were confident that we would do everything – especially for me.” Sunil also praised Anil, called him a great actor and a good person, when you meet him to know.Directed by Rajiv Rai, the Mohra featured a contingent of artists including Naseeruddin Shah, Raza Murad, Paresh Rawal, Gulshan Grover and Sadashiv Amrapurkar. With chartbusters such as “Tu Chase Badi Hai Mast Mast” and high-octane action, the film strengthened the position of Sunil Shetty as an action hero and became one of the top-standing films of the year.
