South Africa’s white-ball coach Rob Walter resigned, citing “personal reasons” Cricket South Africa (CSA) said in a statement on Tuesday.
Under Walter’s leadership, South Africa made history by reaching its first ICC men T20 World Cup final In 2024, where they ended as runners up to India. Even during his tenure, ICC men’s Cricket World Cup in India reached the semi -finals of 2023 in favor of 50 overs.

His last assignment ICC Champions Trophy was 2025, where he led South Africa For another semi -final appearance, where he lost to New Zealand in Lahore in March. Walter has two years left of his contract and was initially due to taking South Africa to the 2027 World Cup, which will be co-condemned by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
Walter said, “Coaching Protiaz has been an incredible honor, and I am very proud of what we have achieved together.”
“Players, assistant employees and South African cricket communities have been fantastic in this journey. While it is time for me to remove steps, I have no doubt that the team will continue to grow and reach maximum heights.”
The CSA has said that they will soon announce Walter’s successor.

“It is also important to identify Rob’s commitment to expand the talent pool in both formats. While in -charge, he ensured that the emerging players had the opportunity to develop and create their identity at the highest level, which would be important for the future of Proteas.
“We have a busy period of white-ball cricket in the next two years because we construct a Cricket World Cup on home land. His successor will continue to work towards that 50-over World Cup campaign with next year’s T20 World Cup.”
