In response to backlash, Nigam clarified that his comments were directed to create trouble on some individuals, not the entire community, and he did not intend to criticize the Kannada speakers.

Sonu Nigam clarifies her comments in Instagram Video
On Saturday, the singer posted a video on Instagram, which explained the incident during his Bengaluru concert. He clarified that a group of 4-5 persons were repeatedly shouting to sing in Kannada, while the rest of the audience tried to stop them and maintain peace. Nigam insisted that he wanted to remind some of the people about a past incident in Pahgam, where the language was not questioned during a particular incident. He also expressed his praise for Kannadigas, emphasizing the importance of normalizing some people’s behavior.

Call for apology and unity
“There is nothing like that. Everywhere, everywhere, everywhere, there are 4-5 such bad people, no matter what state they are from. But they are very important to remind them that you cannot threaten them, you can sing.
He further shared, “If someone is sowing seeds of hatred in the land of love, we need to stop them. Kannadigus are beautiful people, so please do not normalize them. There were only 4-5 boys who were watching me angry after finishing their first song. They could not ask, they could ask them.

Backlash from Kannada workers
A video of Sonu Nigam, who addressed the crowd during his Bengaluru concert, went viral on social media. In the clip, the Nigam, clearly disturbed, stopped the performance to address a group of individuals seeking a Kannada song. He expressed his love for Kannadigas and shared that he has sung some of his best songs in Kannada. However, she said that the way the demand was made, she was “threatening badly.” He also mentioned the incident of Pahlagam, in which the crowd was urged to understand his intentions and reiterated his affection for him.
Recently, in the context of Pahalgam, a site of the terrorist attack, anger arose among the Kannada workers. He interpreted Sonu Nigam’s remarks as a comparison between Kannadigus and the language struggle of terrorism, causing extensive criticism.
