‘Sheez My Tallisman’: Shreyas Iyer revealed the woman behind her success

New Delhi: On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Punjab kings (Pbks) Captain Shres Iyer shared hearty views about the woman, which has been the biggest source of her strength and inspiration. In a video posted by PBKS on X on Sunday, Iyer said, “The woman who inspired me is my mother. She is the pillar of my life. She has supported me through thick and thin, and she is like a talisman for me, especially during my marital period.”Iyer started his IPL journey when he was selected by Delhi Daredevils (Now) Delhi capitals) For Rs 2.6 crore in 2015 auction. He made immediate effect, scored 439 runs in that season and earned the IPL Emerging Player of the Year Award. In the next six sessions, Iyer became an important part of the team, scored more than 400 runs in four consecutive versions and eventually captured the captaincy.In 2018, he converted Gautam Gambhir to DC captain Midway through the season. Although the team ended at the bottom of the table that year, Iyer demonstrated his leadership ability by steering the franchise in the playoffs in 2019 – his first such appearance after 2012.Under his captaincy, Delhi Capital reached his first IPL final in 2020, where he was beaten by Mumbai Indians. Iyer’s crowning achievement as a leader came out last season when he led Kolkata Knight Riders For IPL title.
Ahead of IPL 2025 mega auctionHe was released by KKR and purchased by Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore. Mumbai -born batsman led PBK with determination this season. Under its captaincy, the team has scored 16 out of 12 matches, with seven wins and three defeats.
Personally, Iyer has been in a staller form, 405 runs out of 12 matches at the striking strike rate of 50.63 and 180.81. He has noted four half-century, including the highest score of an unbeaten 97 against Gujarat Titans (GT).
