Bareilly: A 500-hit charge sheet was filed by the SIT in cases related to the alleged murder of Mohammad Bilal and Ayan, two of the five people killed in violence during a survey directed in a court of Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal on November 24, 2024.
An SIT officer, while requesting an oblivion, said on Friday that the charge sheet in “two murder cases” was presented in the local court on Thursday evening, and “the charge sheet in two other cases would be filed soon”. The police had already filed a charge sheet related to stone pelting and mob attack, and it was a “First Chargesheet” filed in connection with the deaths in violence. At that time many police personnel were also injured.
Ghulam Shah and Mulla Afroz – Dubai – Both local residents with a criminal past and alleged links with Dubai -based fugitive Shariq Satak have been accused of “provoking others to create violence” with alleged killings of Bilal and Ayan. After his arrest, the police said that large amounts of weapons and other suspicious items were confiscated.
During the investigation, one of the alleged masterminds, Satha’s name, cropped up. They were reportedly revolved around unrest through local colleagues, and “supply of arms”.
The investigation also revealed that Shah and Afroz allegedly opened fire on the crowd with illegal weapons on 24 November. The pair had said during interrogation that the supply of arms was done at the behest of Satha, which was “providing instructions from the UAE”.
The police have registered seven FIRs for “violence”. The family members of the victim have registered four more FIRs against unknown persons for “murders”. Another FIR was filed for “attempt to murder” by an injured person against unknown suspects of the Turkic dynasty in Mordabad. All 12 FIRs are subject to SIT investigation. Police also recovered allegedly built bullets in Pakistan and the US, suggesting the “external link”.
In 12 FIRs, 37 accused are named, which includes SP MP Ziyar Rehman Barak and MLA Iqbal Mahmood’s son Suhail. In addition, about 3,750 unidentified persons are accused in several cases, and according to the police, more than 80 people have been arrested so far.
