LSG vs MI, IPL 2025: Michel Marsh makes history, sets unique IPL record with powerplay masterclass cricket news

New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants Opener Mitchell Marsh opened his name in IPL record books on Friday, which became the first batsman in the history of the tournament, facing 30 balls within six overs powerplay.

Marsh’s aggressive has so far operated LSG from 69 without damage in the powerplay overs, laid a strong foundation. He became the second batsman only by a franchise to score half a century inside the powerplay after Kyle Mayors’ twin efforts in the 2023 season.

Continuing his red-warm form, Marsh hit his third fifty of the 2025 season, scoring 60 runs and two sixes for 60 runs in 31 balls. His scores in the tournament now read: 72 (36), 52 (31), 0 (1) and 60 (31), underlining their stability at the top.

Marsh’s innings ended in seventh when the mystery spinner Vignesh Puthur hit. Attempting to clip a toss-up delivery, Marsh got a leading lead, which returned to Puthur, who completed a sharp catcher in his follow-throat.
