Jaisalmer: A state government employee was detained on Wednesday on suspicion of spying for Pakistan’s espionage agency ISI in Rajasthan, which was amid a wide crack on the detective network across the country after Operation Sindoor.Sakur Khan Mangiyar, working with the State Employment Department, was raised by a joint team of CID and intelligence agencies from his office in Jaisalmer. Mangalayar is expected to be transferred to Jaipur for further inquiry.Officers are also investigating a suspicious relationship between Mangiyar and a senior Congress politician in the border area. Security agencies have stopped comment on political links. Sources said that Mangiyar served as a personal assistant for an executive officer of Congress during the previous Congress -led state government.Mangalayar, a resident of Dhani in Mangalia in Baroda village near Pakistan border, was under surveillance for several weeks. Investigators found several Pakistani phone numbers in their mobile devices and reported that they could not provide reliable clarification. He accepted to travel to Pakistan at least seven times in recent years, raising further concerns.SP Sudhir Chaudhary said that the investigation began after alert from “High Headquarters” on suspicious activities. “We are verifying all the facts and doing an inquiry,” he said.Although no military-related photos or videos were found on his phone, officials said many files were removed. Two bank accounts under his name are currently under investigation. Intelligence sources revealed a possible relationship between an official at the Embassy of Mangiyar and Pakistan, suggested coordination with the ISI handler.His detention follows a link for espionage arrests for Pakistan in Punjab and Haryana.
