New Delhi: At a time when India is interacting with us for a trade deal, the government said that it will not compromise on the interests of the country as the FTA due to the time limit pressure.
“We don’t interact on the tip of the gun … until we are able to protect the interests of the country and the people, it is not good in a hurry,” said Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. The comments confirmed that US vice -president JD Vance and wife Usha, and NSA Mike Waltz would visit Delhi, possibly on 21 April.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that there was a lot of interest among business partners to pursue bilateral trade relations. It was commented that the principal member of the Trump team – Vice President JD Vance and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz – will visit Delhi.
Although the visit of Vance and his Indian original wife Usha was planned a few weeks ago, the possibility of his arrival on April 21 took to a different dimension, looking at Trump’s tariff aggressively. India will expect Vance, although he himself is a tariff warrior, to lubricate wrinkles that can progress in talks.
While PM Modi is expected to host Vance and his family for food, his journey is mainly called private in nature. He is expected to travel to Agra and Jaipur. Waltz, who will travel to India around the same time to attend the India-US Forum organized by Anant Center, is expected to interact with NSA Ajit Doval and Foreign Minister S Jaishankar. He is also likely to call PM Modi.
State Secretary Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary PT Hegaseth also expect to travel to India before the big visit to the Quad Summit by US President Donald Trump in the next few months which will host India. The dates for the summit after the election in Australia next month will be finalized.
Goyal said that in the last two years, there have been 8 high-level delegation trips in India. He said, “India has been well deployed to engage in bilateral partnership with countries that give importance to mutuality, trust and fair sports,” he said, said, dismissed any pressure suggestions to close deals.
