Shreyas Iyer and Prabhasimran Singh performed the important half-year after Yuzvendra Chahal’s stunning hat-trick, as Punjab Kings defeated Chennai Super Kings by four wickets, which officially finished the five-time champion from the IPL 2025 playoff race.
With this win, Punjab moved to second place on the points table with 13 points, while CSK, while moving downwards with just four points out of 10 matches, extinguished their thin hopes.

Chasing 191, Punjab started with a confident. Openers Priyash Arya (23) and Prabhasimran Singh (54 in 36) set a tone with a sharp stand, scoring nine runs per over. Prabhasimran survived a close LBW review against Jadeja, but the innovative shots – reverse sweep, scoop and powerful straight to perform a series of hits.

Skipper Iyer (72 out of 41) anchored the chase excellently, mixing with aggression. In the 17th over, his attack on Matheesha Pathirana – two sixes and one four – sealed the deal for Punjab despite a short shock. His 72 -run partnership with Prabhasimron laid the foundation for successful chase, with two balls to pass at 194/6.
Earlier, CSK rode his 78-rorn stand with Sam Curan’s career-Best 88 (47 balls) and Developed Brevis (32), which looked a competitor 190.
But Chahal flipped the script late. Leg-spinner, wicketlace by the 19th over, took four wickets-Hat-trick and MS Dhoni’s prized skull included to sink the death over of-CSK.
Chahal’s second IPL hat-trick and his ninth four-wicket race sealed the fate of CSK-and showed Punjab’s Rising Playoff Cretencies.
