The Supreme Court on Tuesday said that the Pegasus reports affecting the security and sovereignty of the country will not be disclosed to the public. However, individuals who believe that their phone was hacked can be reported separately.

The bench said during the hearing, “Any report that touches the security and sovereignty of the country will not be touched. But personal apprehensions should be addressed.” It further stated that sensitive report “documents for discussion on roads” should not be made “.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, who represented one of the petitioners, said that WhatsApp himself revealed the hacking incidents in an American court, highlighting the seriousness of the issue.
The Supreme Court set the next hearing for 30 July.
The Pegasus case stems from the revelations by an international media consortium, stating that more than 300 verified Indian mobile numbers appeared in a leaked list of possible monitoring goals. A spyware tool Pegasus developed by the Israeli company NSO group has been at the center of global privacy and security debate since then.
