Pahalgam Attack: Due to the account with Hold …, the government of Pakistan’s Twitter account in India says

The Government of India has withdrawn access to the Twitter account of the Government of Pakistan. The development comes after a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, killing 26 tourists and injured 20. A popular tourist destination took place in Basaron Valley, a terrorist attack, where gunmen set a group of tourists on fire. Resistance Morcha (TRF), a Lashkar-e-Tabiba affiliated, claimed responsibility for the attack, which has widely condemned political leaders and civil society. The Pakistan government reads a message on the account “The account has been stopped, @govtofpakistan has been stopped in response to legal demand.” This is not the first time that India has stopped the government of Pakistan’s account. Twitter banned Pakistan’s account in March 2023 and in July and October 2022.

According to Twitter’s help center, the decision to withdraw the Twitter account is usually made after taking into account the applied local laws. “Posted every day worldwide with hundreds of crores of tweets, our goal is to respect the user’s expression, while keeping in mind the applicable local laws. There are laws in many countries including the United States that may apply to tweets and/or Twitter account materials,” the official page says.
“Such a ban will be limited to the specific jurisdiction that has issued a legitimate legal demand or where the material is found to violate the local law.”

Pahalgam terror attack: India hit back

Following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Ministry of External Affairs announced a series of strong measures to end its support for cross-border terrorism, including the Sindhu Water Treaty “with the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty.
In a media briefing on 23 April, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that Pakistani citizens will not be allowed to travel to India under the SAARC Visa Rebate Scheme (SSES). He further said that at present any Pakistani National in India has 48 hours to leave India.
