Cabinet nodds 11.25% SEBC quota for admission to high EDU

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cabinet, led by CM Mohan Charan Majhi11.25% reservation for Wednesday approved Social and economically backward class (SEBC) In higher educational institutions, expanding existing quota benefits beyond government jobs. This, however, excludes admission to medical and engineering colleges, reports Ashok Pradhan.Talking to the media after the cabinet meeting, Majhi said that the new policy will be determined to be effective from the current academic year, applied for admission to the government, government-aided institutions and various higher educational establishments in the entire state.The policy includes a wide range of educational programs including graduation, postgraduate, teacher training and law courses under the administrative control of school and public education, higher education, culture and sports departments.“The previous government failed to ensure such a step, depriving the backward classes of obtaining social justice,” said Majhi.This decision came after a few days when the Center gave its approval for the nationwide caste calculation and before one year was completed as Maji Semi. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan appreciated the “historic” move of the Odisha government.
