Nvidia, CEO Jensen Huang to sell Saudi Arabia 18000-Plus AI Chips says ‘I am very happy …’

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang On Tuesday (May 13) announced that the company would sell more than 18,000 of its latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) chips to Saudi Arabia firm Human. The announcement was made during the Saudi-American investment platform in Riyadh, part of a White House-led trip in the region including several technical leaders including President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, Sam Altman and Jensen Huang. Chips, part of the Blackwell series of NVIDIA, will be used with a total capacity of 500 MW in data centers. NVIDIA said that the first deployed chips would be GB300 Blackwell Chips, which were officially unveiled earlier this year. These chips are designed to train and deploy advanced AI systems.

The company plans to develop the AI model and to build the required data center infrastructure. According to a press release, Human’s purpose is to eventually use “several hundred thousand” NVidia GPU.Huang said, “Saudi Arabia is rich in energy, changing energy through these vast versions of these Nvidia AI supercomputers, which are essentially AI factory.”AMD also said that it would provide chips to Human under the same project. According to AMD, Human has committed $ 10 billion to build a 500mw AI capacity. AMD shares increased by 4% during trading.Last week, the US Department of Commerce said what it would call the President’s Export Rules on AI Chips with a simple version. Since 2023, NVIDIA needs to apply for an export license to ship some of its AI chips, due to national security rules.
