North Korea staged First International Marathon in six years

For the first time since 2019, foreign athletes are competing Pyongyang international marathonAlong with about 200 foreign runners from countries like China and Romania, North Korean joined local contestants for a race through roads in the capital.

Simon Cockerel, who runs Korio ToursA Beijing-based company that describes itself as an exclusive travel partner of the race, said, “Pyongyang Marathon is a very unique experience because it offers an opportunity to interact with the locals.”
Cockerel called North Korea “a complex and attractive place”, “while it is not for all, it certainly appeals to eager people about the experience of going to such a country and can see what they can do. ,
The race began with the local people congratulating the participants at the Kim Il Sung Stadium before the initial gun. Runner will exit in previous sites and rural areas before returning to a crowd of 50,000 at the stadium.
The marathon, which is listed on the website of Global Governing Body World Athletics, is the largest international sports program in the country.
