At the Sealdah rally, ISF MLA Naushad Siddiqui questioned the intervention of the police. “CM has said that a new Waqf law will not be implemented in this state. We do not even want it to be implemented. That is why we organized a rally in Sealdah. Why did the police interrupt our workers from going there?”
Mayor Firhad Hakim advised the protesters to direct their works towards Delhi. “Why are they staging a drama here and inconvenience people? When we take the streets and block the roads, it causes trouble for everyone. If you want to protest, the best thing is to organize a collective call to go to Delhi. Protests should be done where the Waqf law has been implemented or will be implemented in those states.
Violence was also reported on Monday in Siliguri city of North Bengal, in which a couple of RAF battalions were deployed in Jyoti Nagar area after colliding during the festival of two groups. Police said the struggle appeared from “a rumor”.
