Nanital Hotel, ‘Enemy Property’ was declared in 60s, India news is to be opened for parking

Nainital: To address Nainital’s parking crisis, MHA on Wednesday issued formal instructions to the Government of Uttarakhand to the Government of Metropol Hotel for temporary use as a parking facility.Built in 1880, the hotel once belonged to the king of Mahmudabad, who moved to Pakistan. A luxury destination in his chief, it hosted statistics like Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder father of Pakistan, who spent his honeymoon there. It was named ‘Enemy Property’ in the early 1960s.The decision of MHA follows a request by CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, who cited the city’s acute parking deficiency and proposed using a hotel expansion ground, which is capable of adjusting more than 1,000 vehicles for public parking. According to a state government, Home Minister Amit Shah replied positively, confirming the approval of MHA in an official letter to CM. Thanking Shah, Dhami said that the move would “significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve logistic facility in the area.,Spread over 10 acres, once-time-equipped property fell into chaos after the enemy’s property was declared, the encroachers gradually captured their open land. In 2023, about 134 families were evacuated following the Supreme Court orders. In October last year, the Custodian office of enemy properties under MHA issued a temporary no object certificate (NOC) to the Nanital District Magistrate, allowing surface parking on a ad hoc basis.
