Paresh Rawal revealed that he lost to the National Award for Sardar due to lobbying: ‘This is the kind of dirty politics that happens’. Hindi film news

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal recently opened up about how he was to receive a national award for his performance in Sardar, but lost due to lobbying. While he was awarded a National Award for Mahesh Bhatt’s head, Paresh revealed that Sardar was initially in consideration.
National Award for Sardar Slipped due to lobbying
Talking to The Lallantop, Paresh recalled, “I was shooting in Mauritius around 1993 or 1994, when I received a call from Mukesh Bhatt in the morning, told me that I was getting a national award for Sir. After a while, Kalpanna Lajmi called and said that I was also receiving a best actor award at the same time.”
However, once Paresh returned to Mumbai, he found that only the award for Sir was only physical. What happened next, he said, “We went to Delhi and stayed at Ashok Hotel. I went there with Ketan Mehta, Arun Khopkar, Khalid Mohammed, Shyam Babu (Shyam Benegal), and T. Subbarami Reddy. I asked Ketan Bhai, ‘Everyone said that if I am getting the award for Sir and Sardar, what happened?’ Only then Sababarimi Reddy Said, ‘You guys do not advocate for this. We did it. We advocated aggressively. ,
Paresh said that even though Mammooty was also nominated that year, a role was played by advocating. Subbarmi Reddy explained some technical about the vote count, which eventually won the award.
Only two awards matters for Paresh Rawal
The actor further disclosed that only two awards of all the appreciation he received really matter to him – Dinanath Mangeshkar Award, which he received from Lata Mangeshkar and PL Deshpande Awards. He mentioned that he even flew to accept only East from Singapore.
He said, he still respects the National Award, but believes that the system is not free from flaws. He said, “There are technical issues with national awards as well. For example, Manisha Koirala’s film was also not presented for consideration. It is a dirty politics that happens. Lobbing is large. If the lobbying is also in the Oscar, it is no exception.”
For Paresh, however, the real reward is elsewhere. “When Naseeruddin Shah called me after seeing Mumbai Meri Jaan and praised my work, it was the biggest award for me,” he said.
