Mithun Chakraborty BMC’s demolition faces danger on illegal construction claims

Actor and politician Mithun Chakraborty has come under scanner, when the Bhanambhi Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a reason for the construction of an unauthorized ground-floor structure in Argal Village located in the Madhu region of Malad.According to a report by the Free Press Journal, the notice under Section 351 (1A) of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (MMC) Act, directs Chakraborty to justify construction within seven days of the notice on May 10. If a satisfactory interpretation is not provided, the civic body will be convicted for the owner. This step comes as part of the large crack of BMC on illegal constructions in the midday area. Authorities have identified 101 unauthorized structures in the area, which have been allegedly made using fake documents including bungalows. The civic body has set a target to remove all such illegal structures by the end of May.According to reports, BMC sources said that recently an inspection near the Heera Devi temple has revealed that two one-plus-mezenine-mangila buildings, a surface structure, and three temporary units were made of bricks, wood, glass and AC sheets. They were reportedly built from the concerned authorities without a proper authority. An official said that under Section 475A of the MMC Act, violation may invite punishment and even imprisonment. The official said, “These structures were erected without approval from the competent authority, and therefore notices are issued,” the officer said.Responding to the allegations, Mithun Chakraborty denied claims. In a statement stated by the portal, he said, “I have no unauthorized structure. Notices have been sent to many, and we are sending our answers.”
