Shillong: Principal Secretary of Meghalaya Syed MD Ek Razi Officials said that it was reportedly found dead inside his hotel room in Uzbekistan on Monday. It is suspected that he died of cardiac arrest.
Razi, an IRTS officer on deputation in the state since 2021, was in Bukhara city of Uzbekistan on an individual visit from 4 April. The hotel staff opened the door and found Razi dead after not responding to the call in the morning. Razi’s wife, an officer in the Central Government, has gone to Uzbekistan to bring back his mortal remains.
RAZI, who was in charge of PH and PWD, served as Director Water life missionUnder which the state achieved significant progress in providing safe drinking water to the people. The Union Government had recently approved the expansion of its tenure in Meghalaya for another year.
CM Conrad Sangma, his ministers and MLAs expressed deep grief over Razi’s death and praised his contribution. While paying tribute, the CM said, “Razi’s incredible efficiency and unbreakable dedication was clear in every department that he had handled, and he always took every task with a level of ownership that inspired the people around him.”
