New Delhi: A large amount of arms and a large amount of weapons, including more than 300 rifles, was recovered from five districts of the Imphal Valley of Manipur, a government official said on Saturday.ADGP Manipur Police, Lahri Dorji Lahatu said that intelligence-linked raids were conducted on the night of June 13-14.“In the night of intervention of 13–14 June, search operations were started on the outskirts of 5 valley districts by joint teams of Manipur Police, CAPF, Army and Assam Rifles. Shops like explosives and other war were recovered by joint teams. Lhatoo said at a press conference in Imphal.The recovery was carried out during a joint operation conducted by the Manipur Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFS), and the Army. The official said the operation was based on intelligence input and was held on the night between Friday and Saturday.The seized items included 151 SLR rifle, 65 INSAS rifle, 73 other rifles, five carbine guns, two MP5 guns, 12 light machine guns, six AK series rifles, two amog rifles, a mortar, six pistols, one AR -15 and two flair guns.The official said that a large number of weapons and ammunition were obtained at various places in the valley districts of Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishanupur, Bishanupur, Kakinging and Thubal. Based on this, the search operation was started simultaneously, causing recovery.He said that the operation is an important step in the ongoing work of security forces to bring back the general conditions, maintain public orders and protect people and property in the state.In addition to 328 rifles and guns, forces also recovered 591 magazines, 3,534 rounds for SLR, 2,186 Ins rounds, 2,252 rounds .303 rifles, 234 rounds, 234 rounds for AKS, 234 rounds, 407 amogh rounds, 20 pistol rounds (9 mm), 10 Grenads, three latdas.The police reiterated their request for public support in keeping Manipur safe. He asked people to report any suspicious activities or information about illegal weapons in the nearest police station or central control room.The official also said that senior police officers are in regular contact with all security agencies to ensure that such operations are going on in a concentrated manner.
