Male, Maldives: Maldives has replaced Israeli passport holders from the country during the war in Gaza.
The amendment was passed by Parliament on Monday and approved by President Mohammad Muizu On Tuesday, according to a statement from the President’s office.
It was not immediately clear whether the law would apply to double citizens who have passports from both Israel and other countries.
The cabinet had decided about a year ago but the government did not formally make it until this week.
The statement said, “Rejuvenation has shown the government’s firm Rukh in response to the continuous atrocities of the massacre against the Palestinian people and the ongoing acts.”
Maldives is a small archipelago state known as a high -end tourist destination to the south of India. It is primarily a Sunni Muslim nation where propagating and practicing other religions is legally banned.
According to the latest available immigration data, 59 people with Israeli passport entered Maldives in February.
