World number one won over Magnus Carlsen Freestyle Chess Grand Slam In Paris, sealing the title in major fashion on Monday. Carlson defeated Hikaru nakamura 1.5–0.5 in the final, the second painted to claim Crown without the need of a tiebreak by winning the first game.
“It felt like I never gave him any chance,” Carlson said after lifting his first Grand Slam Trophy in this innovative format. His performance through a knockout round was innocent, as he won all his matches in classical time control without any fast or need of Blitz Deciders.

In third place playoffs, Fabiano Caruana edged out Vincent keemarWinning 1.5–0.5 as well. Caruana, who achieved the first game and secured a better place in the second, booked her place with her podium finish at the next Grand Slam event in USA this July.
