Ma Anand Sheela revealed why she chose Alia Bhatt on Priyanka Chopra to play her in Shakun Batra’s film: ‘She did not ask me’
Ma Anand Sheela, who was the Indian Godman, philosopher and the private secretary of the Mystic Osho (Acharya Rajneesh), a figure of intrigue remains. In a recent conversation, he shared an insight about a long discussion Biopic Depending on her life, addressing both to portray both the uncertain future of the project and ideal actress on screen.
During a conversation with Pinkvilla, Sheela confirmed that the acclaimed filmmaker Shakun Batra, known for the direction of ‘Kapoor and Sons’ and ‘Gehrian’, intended to complete a commercial film based on her journey. However, he revealed that the project never became physical due to financial obstacles.
When asked that he imagined him to play in the film to be done so far, Sheela admitted that he had initially chosen Alia Bhatt for the role. However, with the film currently, he expressed uncertainty about his fate.
Speculation about Priyanka Chopra Jonas Painting her in a separate project, Sheela clarified: “No, she announced that she wanted to play Sheela’s part, but she did not ask me. It was a problem, and I was not happy. Somebody should ask, ‘How do you feel about it? I am going publicly with this news – do you agree or accept?’ But today, I can tell you, it doesn’t matter.
Sheela reminded of seeing Alia Bhatt’s performance snippets, due to which she saw a similarity between her in her younger years. This feeling inspired her to reach Batra, her sister also agreed that Gangubai Kathiawadi actress bored her a striking equality with her.
While a complete biopic is uncertain, Shakun Batra first discovered Sheela’s story in his 2021 documentary Search for SheelaBuilt under the production house of Karan Johar. The film looks deeply in Osho after its life, which presents a glimpse in the esoteric personality that is imprisoning many people.
