New Delhi: Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss on Tuesday and opted for the field under the leadership of Rishabh Pant Lucknow Super Giants Bharat Ratna Shri Atil Bihari Vajpey at Ekna Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Iyer included New Zealand Speedster Lockie Ferguson in XI, in which he was handed over his first cap for Punjab Kings.
“We are going to bowl first. It’s a new ground, a new pitch, dew can also be a factor, and with it having a red-mud pitch, we want to chase. The players have the freedom to express themselves. You have to play the situation; we try to keep things simple. We do not know how the pitch is going to adjust, but we say in the team.”

Known for his express speed, Ferguson earned 157.3 km per hour during an IPL 2022 match against Rajasthan Royals.
Meanwhile, Pants retained the same XI for the match against Punjab Kings.
“We wanted to bowl first, but there are things that are not under our control, are very happy to bat first. There are many people who have come to support us, and we are definitely going to give our best. There is no change for us,” Pants said.
