New Delhi: US State Secretary Marco Rubio said on Friday that he is happy that Tahwur Rana’s extradition with India, which is one of the main accused in the 26/11 Mumbai 2008 attack.
“We extradited Tahwur Hussain Rana to India to face allegations for his role in the 2008 horrific planning. Mumbai terrorist attacksTogether, with India, we have long sought justice for 166 people, including 6 Americans, who lost their lives in these attacks. I am glad that the day has arrived, “Rubio posted on X.
According to a statement issued by the US Department of Justice, Rana told Headley after alleged attacks that Indians praised “its entitled” and nine Lashkar-e-Tabiba (late) terrorists, who died during the attack, suggesting that they should be honored with Pakistan’s highest military honors. These statements were reportedly captured during the conversation between the two.
Rana faced a test for his alleged involvement in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, killing 166 people. Rana, a former Pakistan Army Medical Corps Officer, replaced the immigration consultant, but is accused of facilitating the attacks by providing logistic assistance to his childhood friend and co-speculator, David Coleman Headley,
The National Investigation Agency has said that accused Tavavur Rana has planned several other plots similar to 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks to target many Indian cities. “His (Rana) is considered necessary for long -term detention to facilitate a comprehensive inquiry in custody, which aims to highlight the deep layers of the conspiracy.
Rana was brought to court in an horse -bearing, including a jail van, an armored swat vehicle and an ambulance.
After the completion of the necessary legal processes in the US, NIA officials along with Rana arrived in India on Thursday.
When the US Supreme Court refused his application, this development took place after Rana’s final attempt to avoid extradition. The 64 -year -old was first held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles.
