The Gujarat Titans (GT), led by Shubman Gill, have become the first Indian Premier League (IPL) team to resume their training session after the announcement of a ‘agreement’ between India and Pakistan, Timesopindia.com has learned.
Table-toppers hit the ground running at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday evening. Gujarat Titans, so far, are leading the table with 16 points and a better net run rate of 0.793.
“Yes, we have started training. The boys looked fast, and we are ready to go,” a GT officer told Timesopyndia.com.
It is firmly learned that the BCCI and the IPL Governing Council have verbally asked the franchise to collect their squads for the remaining 16 games, which is likely to start by Friday (May 16).
The entire squad of GT was part of the training session. Except for former England captain Jose Butler and South Africa’s speedster Gerald Koetzi, all foreign players stopped back.
“Our entire squad got stuck around our entire squad. Only Jose and Gerald, but they will return as needed,” the official said.
GT looks like one of the favorite to win the title. He has three batsmen-Sai Reformson (509 runs), Shubman Gill (508 runs), and Jose Butler (500 runs)-in the field for the Orange Cap and in the top five major run-songs. Fame Krishna is leading the Purple Cap race, with 20 wickets at the impressive economy rate of 7.65. He is supported by fellow Indian Pesar Mohammad Siraj, who has 15 wickets, and Sai Kishore, with 14 wickets, who have been ranked eighth and tenth in the list of prominent wickets respectively.
The 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was suspended on Friday after cross -border tension between India and Pakistan.
A total of 12 league stage matches and four playoff stage matches are yet to be played in the tournament.
Of the 12 league matches, Ahmedabad is scheduled to host three matches, while Lucknow and Bengaluru have two matches to host two matches. Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Jaipur have a match.
