The allegations claimed that Sonu Nigam commented “objectionable and emotionally stimulating”, which angered the condolences of the Kannadiga community and promoted discord between various linguistic groups in Karnataka.
The official complaint stated, “The complaint has been lodged against the famous singer Mr. Sonu Nigam for making objectionable and emotionally provocative statements during a concert held on 25 and 26 April, which is in the middle of the East Point College of Engineering and Technology, Virzonagar, Bengaluru, which is likely to stagger in the police station.
The event took place when the singer was performing at the East Point College of Engineering and Technology in Virzonagar, Bangalore on 25 April. When a fan requested to perform the Kannada song continuously, Sonu said that the fan was demanding an aggressive manner. He then said, “Yahi Karan Hai, Pahalgam Mein which has happened. The response attracted the backlash not only from the Kannadiga community but also from the people across India, who spoke against comparing.
Police officers have registered a case under sections 351 (2), 352 (i) and 353 of the Indian Penal Code and started their investigation.
Controversial comments were given during a stage performance and recorded on the video, which later spread to social media platforms, triggering the important backlash from Karnataka residents.
