Paris: The French luxury group Hermes said on Thursday that it will increase its prices in the United States to offset the impact of 10 percent import duty imposed by President Donald Trump.
Famous for his Birkin handbags, silk scarves and leather accessories, the growth will be effective on 1 May, the group’s finance head, Eric Holigut said.
Halgout did not say how much prices would increase, but he said that this step would “completely offset” the tariff effect.
“This will be a supplementary value increase that we are currently finalizing, but which will allow us to neutralize this effect,” he asked reporters during a quarterly income presentation.
Hermes, also known for the “H” logo on their belts and other accessories, usually increase prices once a year and had already announced an increase in the world between six and seven percent of the world in 2025.
Hermis defeated the French rival LVMH as the world’s most valuable luxury group this week after the stock price of Luis Wuiton manufacturer.
Hermis posted a global sales of 4.1 billion euros ($ 4.7 billion) in the first quarter of 2025, which increased by 8.5 percent from the same period last year.
Sales in the US region rose by 13.3 percent to 695 million euros, with a double -digit increase in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Brazil, said Halgout.
American sales were interrupted by Wildfire at Los Angeles, forcing two shops to close for several days, and icy storms in other states.
Trump imposed a 10 percent tariff on imports from around the world this month, but delayed high duties on dozens of other countries, including 20 percent of the levy for goods from the European Union.
