French FM first travels to Iraq

Baghdad: FranceForeign minister Jean-Noel Barot The Palestinian-Israel will meet officials in Baghdad on Wednesday as part of a regional tour for a two-state solution of the conflict.
The French Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the Barrot, who would also visit Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, is on a tour to help in the International Conference Preparation for the implementation of the two-state solution “to help the Paris co-organize with Riyadh in June.
French President Emmanuel Macron said earlier this month that France had planned to recognize the state of Palestinian, possibly in early June.
He said he hoped that it would “trigger a series of other beliefs”, including Israel.
Iraq has long recognized a Palestinian kingdom, but has never recognized Israel and has no formal relations with it.
For decades, the formal recognition of a Palestinian state has been seen as an endgeam of a peace process between Palestinians and Israel.
On his first visit to Iraq, Barrot will meet his counterpart Fuad Hussain And Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani to meet his leaders before going to the Northern Autonomous Kurdistan region in Baghdad.
Baghdad’s visit will allow preparations for the third edition of France Baghdad conference On regional stability, which has been co-organizing with Baghdad since Paris 2021.
Its purpose is to confirm “France’s commitment to Iraq’s stability and its role” in maintaining regional balance.
This would allow France to confirm its commitment to continue the fight against the “Islamic State Group, especially” in terms of infection in the neighboring Syria,, and the decisions of Washington’s decision to half of their troops in Syria.
France deployed troops in Iraq as part of the US -led international coalition in Iraq, defeated in Iraq in 2017, although some of its jihadi cells remain active.
Baghdad is now demanding to end the mission of the coalition and change it with bilateral military partnership with members of the coalition, saying that her own army can lead the fight against weak jihadis.
