Former MP Chandra Arya in Canada launched the lobby group to compete with anti -Hindu rhetoric in Canada

Former Parliament member for Napian, Ottawa, Chandra Arya has launched the Hindu Public Affairs Council (HPAC) of Canada.Arya, originally served in Canadian Parliament for more than nine years of India. Shortly before the 2023 elections, he was removed as a Liberal candidate for Napian and replaced by Marks Carney. The Liberal Party’s decision followed claims about their participation with foreign influence related to India.Arya remains vocal about the issues affecting concerns on the Hindu Canadian, especially the Khalistan movement. Arya criticized the supporters of the movement and said that such elements are reducing the Hindu community in Canada. The new lobby group claims to be “unplugically Hindu” and “completely Canadian”. In his announcement on social media, Arya highlighted that the Hindu community in Canada is diverse, “India is our sacred land.” The newly formed HPAC will work to combat growing Hindu rhetoric and what Arya considered as an uncontrolled rise of Khalistani extremism.Mr. Arya said in a post on X, “In an era when Hindu and Khalistani forces are embraced and our community is under siege, Canada grows with HPAC resolution,” Mr. Arya said in a post on X. “We will not be silent. We won’t come back.” Arya also commented that other Canadian beliefs, such as Jewish and Muslim communities, have lobby groups that advocate their interests, but Hindu Canadian people lack a similar political presence. Despite the criticism, Arya has insisted that HPAC would be funded through small donations from Hindu Canadians, rejecting the notion that their efforts are related to the interests of the Government of India.
