A major initiative includes electronic acquisition of death registration data from the Registrar General of India. To improve voting experience, the Commission has also designed again Voter information slip (Vis) to make it more user friendly. The new format has large fonts for voters’ serial and part numbers, which helps the voters easily identify their voting stations and help the officers at a quick place of voter entries in the roll.
In another step to promote voter outreach and confidence, the ECI has directed that all blos will be issued standard photo identity cards. Appointed under Section 13B (2) of the Representation of the People’s Act, 1950, there are primary links between the Blos voters and the Commission.
