England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is allegedly considering closing Mak Pataudi TrophyWhich has been a traditional award for the test series between England and India in England. This change may be effective from India’s upcoming tour of England in June 2025.
The Petudi Trophy was established in 2007 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the England vs India First Test match.

While the ECB has not provided an official reason for this decision, speculation suggests that the board may want to present a new trophy in the name of a cricketing icon recently from both nations.
Sources indicate that the trophy after the family of veteran Indian captain, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, has been named as development.
A source close to the family mentioned, “This is an understanding from the ECB. Apparently, the trophies retire after some time.”
So far, ECB has not officially confirmed the retirement of the Pataudi Trophy or whether a replacement will be introduced for the future England-India Test series.
